Ex-Jets player: Aaron Rodgers has always been ‘smug,’ and now he can’t back it up

Former SNY analyst Willie Colon didn’t hold back during Sunday’s Jets postgame show. That’s when the former Jets guard blasted quarterback Aaron Rodgers for talking a big game with little to show for it.
The Jets clinched their ninth consecutive losing season when they fell to the Seahawks 26-21 on Sunday. Rodgers failed to surpass 200 yards passing for the third straight game, completing 21-of-39 passes (53.8% completion percentage) for 185 yards, two touchdowns and a historic interception — Seahawks lineman Leonard Williams returned the ball 92 yards for a touchdown, the longest pick-six by a defensive lineman in the history of the league.

“That’s who Aaron Rodgers is. That’s who he has always been,” said Colon after the game, via SNY. “He’s just covered that up because of the way he has played.
“You can be smug and cocky when you are winning MVPs and you’re balling. You can make every play on the field, you can be smug. The problem is his smugness and his play aren’t matching up.”
After the game, Rodgers took some of the responsibility for the Jets’ ninth loss of the season. He also pointed fingers as he’s been known to do this season.
“There’s 11 guys on the field,” said Rodgers in his postgame media availability. “Sometimes it’s my fault. Definitely multiple times today. And then sometimes the details aren’t there in some other spots too.”
This season, the four-time MVP quarterback, hasn’t looked like vintage Rodgers. In 12 games, he’s already matched his career-high loss total while completing 62.5 percent of passes for 2,627 yards with 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions. His 87.5 passer rating is the lowest of his career in a season where he’s played at least 12 games.
